TOLL E-COMMERCE STRATEGY GAINS PACE WITH REMOVALS AUSTRALIA
The Toll Group today finalised
acquisition and assumed control of Removals Australia, a virtual logistics
provider specialising in relocation management.
The acquisition follows the
Commonwealth Government's selection of Toll as the preferred purchaser of
Removals Australia in December 1999.
The Managing Director of Toll, Mr
Paul Little, said, "In firming the future plans and opportunities which
exist for the business, we believe the growth potential together with the
e-commerce platform of Removals Australia, make this an outstanding acquisition
for us".
Removals Australia is distinctive
amongst companies developing in the e-commerce community, in that it is
profitable, has proven systems, has a well developed growth strategy and a sound
record of delivering quality service.
"These are the elements
which will set Toll apart from other providers in the e-commerce world", Mr
Little said.
Removals Australia is the largest
removals management and brokerage service within Australia and has developed a
unique information system as the core of its customer service offering. The
business utilises a process of preferred supplier arrangements for its removal
carriers, and has no carrier equipment fleet.
Toll plans to grow the business
by further developing its relationship with its major customer, the Department
of Defence, and by pursuing the vast corporate market.
Removals Australia will enable
Toll to pursue its e-commerce strategy with even greater vigour and demonstrate
an ability to provide value for money e-commerce enabled solutions across the
Group's industry sectors and entire customer base.
"Removals Australia is
another important e-commerce development for us, and we are now setting our
sights on transforming value from each of the industry segments in which we
operate through investments and strategic alliances," Mr Little said.
