Toll's innovative solutions wins business with Australia's leading auto companies

Toll Holdings, Australia's leading provider of integrated transportation and logistics services was awarded 'Provider of Logistic Services' for the Holden Inbound Materials Business, and 'National Vehicle Distribution Supplier' for the Ford Motor Company in May 2002.

The anxiously awaited contract outcome followed lengthy bidding processes involving domestic and international logistics companies.

The Holden national contract involves the collection, consolidation and delivery of automotive components to both the Holden engine operations center in Melbourne and the Holden vehicle operations center in Adelaide.

Michael Gilcrist from Holden and Michael Thorn from Vector SCM said that all bids were assessed on quality, service, technology and price components. Whilst the general quality of the bids was of a high standard, Toll performed highly, particularly in the areas of innovation and technology initiatives.

The Ford national contract sees the expansion of Toll's Lead Logistics Provider role to now encompass compound management, vehicle distribution, national distribution of parts and accessories (stock transfer and road express), inbound original equipment component logistics and the packaging of parts and accessories.

Toll's managing director said "Toll won the competitive tenders against major domestic and international logistic companies which recognises Toll's commitment and proven ability to provide 'value-add' logistic solutions to the automotive industry.
